February 3, 2004Swapping out the coils for 3/4ton coils is not "afro engineering" as you so put it. It is commonly done on 2wd C10s. Hell, even some guys with 1/2ton 4wd Dodges do the same thing.....use 3/4ton front coils to get 2" of lift.

February 3, 2004you would also get a harsher ride
stiffer is not better
a spacer would be prefereable to a 3/4ton spring
February 3, 2004oh yeah Thats what I ment to type.. I was thinking Springs(coils) but I typed the wrong thing... and one thing Ive learned is you wouldn`t want to put spacers in the front.
Im probally gona save up for a suspension lift but in the mean time..... Theres no way 33`s could fit it stock right?(with no trimming)...
About suspension lift kits.. What should I bet looking for in the kit?
Here is an example of one I found for my truck..
-Kits include front lifted coil springs, rear blocks and u-bolts, ball joint spacer and Heckethorn Hydro 8000 shocks
Whats wrong or what is negative and positive sides to using that.. and what should I look for instead.. Is this a standard kit packagE? .. So on... (Oh by the way that was for a 5`` lift kit that cost $1250.00)
(One other little side note.. should I just get 3`` suspension lift and 3 inch body lift?.. Does that mean loosing what I would think 3``s of ground clearance?.How much would the 33`s also raise it? Im not going for the huge 35s look...)

February 3, 2004I don`t think I`ll be buying it from rough country though .. (where I got that description from)
First page of my search on this site and I read this.. http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92947&highlight=lifting+kit
and it was only a 3`` from them...
February 3, 2004That`s for a 4wd buddy, not 2wd; in the FSC thread. Stock the largest you can fit all around is 32s. Idk how much they rubbed, but I have seen them on a 78 Chevy C10....damn those things looked big as hell under those 2wd fenderwells. You can try for 33`s stock, if you plan on driving in a straight line everywhere...
February 3, 2004I think I might go with a 3`` body lift first with the tires then save up for the suspension lift... and with the tires on I`ll be able to tell how much higher I wanna go also..
Anything I should know about body lifts? (Havn`t heard anything bad except some people like don`t the gap between the bumper and body.. thats it..)
and I know the guy had a 4wd but the guy asking the original question has a 2wd C1500 94..

February 4, 2004The coil swap wouldn`t be "afro-engineering" but some of the other mods to "make something work" might be. I know how projects like this are and they can cause you to do things you normally wouldn`t do. I understand somethings are interchangable with no consequences, but someone with little knowledge of lifts and stuff like that could get themselves into trouble trying to do it the cheap way...I`m not dissin` "AE" because I do it all the time, you just have to accept the fact that sometimes your engineering skills are lacking and when you break down you have no one to blame but yourself....done that more than a few times!!lol!!
February 4, 2004Ok Thanks to everyone helping me with this this post.. Im figured out what Imgona do... and im gona start a new post with questions for it soon..
