December 23, 2003my rear springs have gone soft over the years from hauling heavy loads. they are so soft i can put my knee on the back bumper and ppush down and the truck will go down more than it should. should i add a leaf or buy some helper springs from jc whitney. the helper springs "help prevent body roll and restore sagging springs". which should i go with?

December 23, 2003i think an add-a-leaf will be easier to install, but helper springs would help with hauling things better.
December 24, 2003if your springs are to were you can just push the back down with your knee they are prob, pretty well wounded!you would prob,be better off replacing your spring assemblys with the next higher leaf count.the helper kit would just be a bandade.either you might find broken leaves or hasten their departure from under your truck.
December 25, 2003i just want something to stiffen the springs up some, not wanting to haul stuff. i know of an old ford that my friends dad used for the trash truck around his salvage yard. the motor finally went and it is junked out. the springs are good and i can get both springs for nothing if i go take them off. so my best bet would be to swap out the whole leaf spring? thanks
