August 4, 2004My buddy has a 99 dodge 1500 reg cab with a 5 inch suspension and 3 body. His truck leans to the driver side and we cant figure out what is making it do it. We called superlift thinking it was the coil but after 6 brand new coil springs and a rep from superlift looking at it we decided it had nothing to do with the lift so we put a spacer in it and it didnt do anything it actually compressed the coil more. This think is driving me crazy if any one has any info. please tell me because i dont know. Thanks

August 4, 2004I don`t know dodges all that well but is the gas tank on the driver side? With the weight of the driver and the weight of the tank a lean could be evident...
August 4, 2004Was the body lift installed correctly? Correct parts etc.
August 4, 2004As far as i can tell the body lift is perfect. Yes the gas tank is n that side but even with an empty tank and no one in it on perfectly level ground it leans. This truck is making me mad as i cant figure it out. I am kind of leaning maybe towards something like the coil tower being bent or something.
August 6, 2004Is the steering arm on the drivers side?
Maybe you need to do some more steering correction.
August 8, 2004Yes the steering arm is on the driver`s side. Would that make it lean though? It started leaning when we put the 5inch lift on but we put a 5inch steering on arm it. Ill look at it today. Thanks for the reply.

quote:Its just a guess.. I know i put a 4" lift on my 85 chevy 1/2 ton and didnt replace the steering arm. The arm had enough strength to hold the drivers side down enough to be noticable. I popped that steering arm off and it sat straight.

August 8, 2004I might have to try that. Did the steering feel tight or anything?
August 8, 2004you mean, if there was stress on the steering arm by pulling the drivers side down? then yes
if you meant as far as handling, it handled like ass and had lots of bump steer
August 9, 2004i had an 88 f150 with a 3 inch body lift and it leaned to the passenger side and the door hit the fender a little i could never figure out why untill i pulled the engine after blowing it up and noticed that one of the body mounts had broken off up underdeath all the motor crap where you couldnt see it... i used a jack, some flat bar and a welder and had it fixed in about 30 mins...
August 9, 2004Thanks for the reply. We are going to check everything out tomorrow and pull the steering arm off and try to figure this out. I will also look at the mounts. Once again thanks for the fast replys.
