October 16, 2002this motor stumbles at idle, is it dirty injectors? Also lack of oil pressure and knocking at start up, Is there a check valve in the oil line somewhere??
October 16, 2002Stumbles at idle, lack of oil pressure....does it have a high lift cam or is this motor bone stock? Lack of oil pressure at 800-1000 rpm would tell me your bearing clearances in your motor are so worn out you are losing pressure through blow off. Maybe you are losing oil pressure because the engine is stumbling and missing, bet you have a TBI in that truck. Pull off the air filter cleaner so you can look down the throttle body with the engine running, manually flip the linkage and rev it up and watch the fuel spray, both injectors should have an even spray pattern and one shouldn`t be dripping away. If that looks ok, change your sparkplugs, wires, fuel filter. Wouldn`t hurt to take it to a shop and have the timing adjusted and the TPS sensor. Good luck.
October 16, 2002Does the motor knock just on start up, or just when it`s cold? Beware, since you do have low oil pressure and a knock, you could be about to throw a rod.....depending.
October 16, 2002A good way to check yor fuel spray pattern, on your TBI is to, turn off all the light`s, be in the total dark, and take a hooked up timing light and turn it on the TBI, and work the throttle, it is like a blacklight effect and you can see your spray pattern real well.

October 18, 2002Need more info. Rule out the obvious first, and do a full tune up. It could be a lot of things. Clean out the throttle body real good and check your plug wires while you`re in there to eliminate that possibility.
