October 19, 2003I am trying to replace the O2 Sensor on my 1979 Chevy Blazer. And for some reason, Checker Auto says they dont have a listing for them. I thaught all trucks had O2 Sensors, but I suppose I could be wrong. They do have em, dont they? anyway, is there ANY possible way to bypass the O2 Sensor. If I dont need it I dont want it. The less parts to worry about, the better... Becides, if it`s still attached, then there is always a chance at loosing it on the trail. Lemmie know if there is any way to bypass it, thanks guys!!!
October 19, 2003exactly what dave said... you didn`t mention the year in your previous topic..

quote:First of all it`s a federal offense to do so, whether your inspection stations choose to look for them or not. Second of all, if it`s a stock or old cat, then yes it could rob some serious horses. If it`s a rather new, good quality high flow cat, then no. Maybe 1-2 horses at most, and with that little gone, you`re not going to notice the loss anyway. The same goes with smog pumps......at most 2-5 horse loss....not enough to notice.

October 19, 2003so the previous owner of my truck commited a federal offence?
October 19, 2003Yep. The only time that removing the cats would not be a federal offense is if the truck came from the factory without cats and someone put them on *for some odd reason*, and then you took them off. Since the truck would`ve came without cats from factory, it`d be perfectly legal to take them off. Otherwise, it`s not legal.
