June 15, 2004I drive a 1993 Chevy Suburban, 2WD, 1/2 ton, 350 TBI, with all stock components, with the exception of a Flowmaster muffler. I am considering the addition of a performance chip. Does anyone have any experience with this upgrade, and is it worth the money? Any comments or advice will be appreciated.
June 15, 2004a chip will help but not a jet chip. I had the jet 6 pack chip in my 89 chevy with a 160* t-stat and ran 87, 89, and 91 octane and couldnt feel a difference.
June 16, 2004I to have considered adding a chip to my 89 Chev 350 tbi. The only guy that I trust to work on my rig other then me told me that before I get one that I should have him order the chip then bring the truck to him to have it installed casue he puts it on the dyno to see if there was a change in performance as per the manufacture specs. He said that there are lots of times that he has installed the chip into trucks and the chip made the truck have less HP then it did before the chip. If the chip does not perform like it should than he will contact the company that makes the chip and have them send a new chip that will work. It may cost more to do it that way but it will save you in the long run I think by geting your moneys worth.
