October 19, 2002I want a decent system but it needs to go in a standard cab pickup. I don`t know what subs i can put in it that will fit back there cause i am kinda tall so the seat can`t be all the way forward cause its uncomfortable. I was thinking about a pioneer deck ( i know they aint the best) but i dunno what subs are good at a decent price or what kind of amp. I don`t want top of the line just something that sounds good.
October 19, 2002Just replace your factory speakers with quality ones. I suggest a pioneer DEH 6400... thats what I have and it makes my 4x6`s scream.
October 19, 2002go with a pioneer deck. Who said they are not that good. i really like them!!! anyway....
subs -10" kicker compvrs or jl w0`s
sub amp - rms 400 watts (2 channel)
speakers - components in the front/coaxials for the rear
deck - pioneer premiers/ kenwood excelon something with a 4 volt preamp output
you are going to want a amp for the new speakers if you get good quality speakers. The deck alone will not provide enough power to the speakers. Get a 300 rms amp for the highs (4 channel).
Let me know if you want me to get prices for you on anything

November 15, 2002This is the system I have, and I like the sound.
2X MTX Components (6.5" with tweeter in seperate boxes, easily fits behind seat)
2X MbQuart 3.5" Dash mounted speakers
1X 100 Watt Amplifier for rear speakers
1X Older Pioneer CD player
I`ll tell you what, if your listening to rock & roll, this is the system you want. It kicks good, and when listening to Dazed and Confused, the mirror on the windshield vibrates so much I can`t see through it. If your into rap or anything like that, ask somebody else who might know about big subwoofers.
November 25, 2002hey man, i`ve got a 94 GMC regular cab step side and i put in:
2x 10" rockford subs behind the seat
4x 4x6`s Pioneer 3-way
and a kenwood 919 mp3 deck.
the subs are off of a rockford 250W amp with sub control.
and this system rocks, and i can still get my seat almost right to the back.
November 26, 2002Pioneer Everybody has ther own openion, and the right to it, but IMO Pioneer makes great HU`s.
It is all about what kind of music you listen to, and how you listen to it.
I personally think 1 or 2 10`s would do the trick.
Like toyota-prerunner-guy said JL makes some good stuff.
rockford`s are also make some nice stuff IMO.
parker77 Got any Pictures on your Setup? I would like to see how those 10`s and amp look behind your seat!!
November 26, 2002I got 2-8 inch Kicker subwoofers, Pioneer DH-P33 54x4 w, 90w x 2 Alpine equilizer, and stock speakers for now.. sounds alright, but could use a bit more, and my seat is perfect.. custom built box that is...
December 30, 2002As far as your sub box goes, go to a Circut City and they can demo a sub inside of your truck. that will show you what subs will sound the best and give you a good idea about clearance. I`ve installed a lot of boxes in standard cab trucks. Most dont have problems. As far as the rest of the system, go to a few diffrent stereo shops and play around. Talk to the guys there to find out about the pros/ cons of individual products. Just don`t be fooled by sales gimcks! Good luck!
