April 10, 2003I Have a simple question. I have a Kicker L7 8 inch sub, Its a 2ohm sub. I want to wire a 4ohm sub to it. Heres my question if I wire the two subs together, how many OHMs will I be running at. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
April 10, 2003You will be running 1.33 ohms.
Now, you don`t want to do that. Mixing different subs (size, model, brand) is bad because they all play a little differently. What you end up with is very muddy bass and piss poor sound quality.
Another thing, since on is 2 ohm and one is 4 ohm, the 2 ohm sub will get twice the power as the other sub. Say you are giving 300 watts at 1.33 ohm, one will take 200 watts, the other only 100.
One more thing, your L7 is either a 4 ohm DVC or a 2 ohm DVC, as that is all Kicker has offered them as.
April 10, 2003run them on separate channels or separate amps to make it clean as possible although. run the 2ohm sub in series and briged two channels = 2 ohm, the 4ohm sub in parallel and run straight into a monochannel amp = 2ohm. that is the only way to do it somewhat right. or sell the 4ohm subs, buy another 2 ohm, run both in series, buy a one ohm stable amp and run both the subs into the one channel. other than that I cannot help you anymore
