"Demon of a Duramax"
"Shortly after Dodge made the announcement about the new Ram 600, GM let the world know that it had tweaked and tuned the Duramax diesel engines in the `04 trucks for the better. All `04 trucks equipped with Duramax engines and Allison 1000 automatic transmissions were given a rating with 10 more horsepower (310HP at 3100RPM) and an increased 70 lb-ft of torque (590lb-ft at 1,600 rpm). GM also repirted that the engine now produces less emissions, with NOx emissions being cut in half. Duramax trucks mated to the standard ZF S6-650 manual transmission recieve the emissions improvements with the same power ratings."
Not sure how that compares to the new ford and dodges, but an extra 70 lb-ft of torque is always nice!
