March 23, 2004I read it petersons off-road that dodge is dropping the H.O version of the cummins and replacing it with the cummins 600, the 600 stands for 600 ft/lbs of torque. That`s 600 at only 1900 rpms too. There`s a picture of it pulling an iron ore dump truck too.

March 23, 2004I`m honestly not arguing.. im just curious what these new diesels are putting out!
March 23, 2004I saw a dodge commercial today that mentioned something about a new `600`......
March 23, 2004Here it is, just click on the red "see the entire line of Dodge Ram engines>" link then go to the Cummins.
They still carry last years HO, but now it`s the standard diesel. The new 600 is the optional big boy.

Sorry, here`s the link.
March 24, 2004I think it`s safe to say, "I rest my case".

March 24, 2004Anyway, I think I`m around 600 since my new intake and exhaust. Next to come is the Garrett ball bearing turbo and upgraded fuel delivery. Once that is done and paid off, I`m thinking about a set of Diesel Innovations "Mini-Me" injectors with a custom tuned chip. 500rwhp or damn close to it. I`ll be conservative and say 900lbs torque. This set up should last me about 50 miles until I need a BTS tranny. BTS trannies
March 24, 2004Yeah whatever, I have hooked up so many chains to my Dodges and haven`t had a problem yet that wasn`t the result of my lead foot or insane driving.
I agree, if you get up to 500 rwhp then you are gonna need to upgrade your tranny or you`ll be like me...walking. I burned mine up by putting a race series flowmaster on my truck and pretending it was a manual, when in reality it is an auto...I never knew that would hurt an auto DUMBASS ME! LOL
I am hell on trucks and automatic trannies.
March 24, 2004No no guys, the idea is to use a tow strap. A chain is almost sure to tear up any truck.
If Dodge is putting a 600ftlb diesel engine in their trucks, they better start thinkin about upgrading the trannies, especially thier automatics. That staement goes for pretty much all these new trucks with these way powerful diesels in them. One of the guys I work with said that a friend of his has either an 02 or 03 Duramax and he`s havin tranny problems with it. And speakin of which, a friend of mine has a 03 Powerstroke, and he too is havin early tranny problems. I swear, when are these people going to say enough is enough. I would think 600 even 500 foot-pounds of torque would be plenty for anything that could be pulled safley behind a pickup.
