October 5, 2004I have a 1990 K1500 4x4 and the dash brake warning light seems to be flashing a code. I flashes seven fast and holds for a few seconds on the eighth then repeats. Does anyone know what this code is trying to tell me. I've used code scanners before but they usually flash the check engine light for engine and transmission codes.

October 5, 2004It MIGHT be your ABS (if equipped) or your vaccum booster is bad/has a vaccum leak. I'm not sure, but maybe someone like MIDAS or Mieneke could help on this one...
I drive a Dodge, so I don't know much Chevy stuff, and I don't like to work on brakes b/c that is what keeps me alive. I leave that to someone else, so when I wreck it isn't my fault!
October 15, 2004By 'brake warning light' do you mean anti-lock light? and is the truck running? or is it just the key on, in the run position, without the engine running? answer these and I may be able to help.
March 29, 2005I had the same problem with my 89 K2500.
It's an indicator light, but it's not picked up by the OBD system.
On mine I disconnected the battery, made sure the master cylinder was full and cleaned the wire connection on the top of it (mine had a lot of mud in it). Connected my battery again and I haven't had a problem since.
Hope this helps.
