November 12, 2004Sound is so subjective that it's hard to give a recommendation unless you've heard something you like. I wanted a little tone but nothing loud or that droned going down the road, so I put a stainless Gibson system on my 302.
Magnaflows have a good deep tone a little louder, but not too bad. Your best bet is to try to catch someone with the same engine that already has a system on that you like the sound of. Whatever you do, don't bozo it up and go for sound over performance. There is nothing worse than a loud truck that's a performance PIG in my opinion.
March 15, 2006Okay heres a clue I know this post is very old but I will reply. Your truck is an 86 which probally means that it is equipped with a cat. Over time your cats clog leading to more restriction and less sound. So if you havent done it is the past few year please remove your cat and put a new one on or gut it. Then make it str8t pipes.
March 15, 2006Finally! Someone who acknowledges an old post while replying. Signmaster pretty much nailed the answer. If you notice by the guy’s name, it says he lives in California (Firebaugh, CA.). There’s really not too much you can do to an exhaust system out there and pass emissions.
