December 3, 2004My sister took my '71 chevy out and put a crack in my oil pn and blew my engine. Well can't decide whether it would be better to put a 383 stroker or a 454 in it. It had a 305 in it and it just wasn't cutting it. For the time until Idecide I took a 307 out of my '68 chevy. Also my mom's truck is a '75 blazer k-5 cheyenne. The hub on I believe the driver side will unlock from the outside but on the inside of the hub it's still locked in. So I disconnected the front drive line but it's winter and she drive alot to work and she needs it for pullin other people out! Do you know any tricks to getting in to release?

December 7, 2004there are lots of ways to go with a 383 stroker.. Id say mild, not wild..
February 15, 2005IF YOU BUILD A REALY THOUGH 454 IT WILL LAST A LONG TIME. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND YOU CAN GET MORE TORQUE OUT OF A 383 WITH OUT THE EXTRA WEIGHT. IF YOU WANT RELIABILITY, MORE THAN POWER AND PERFORMANCE. I WOULD GO WITH A 454. A 383 IS VERY TEMPERMENTAL. AND NEEDS A LOT OF TLC. AND ARE VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE. TALK TO PEOPLE IN YOUR ARE THAT HAVE 383'S IN THERE RIGS AND ASK THEM HOW THERES HOLD UP. AND THEN COMPARE IT WITH YOUR OLD 454.
February 24, 2005I HAVE A 1972 CHEVY 3/4 TON WITH A 454 BUILT TOUGH THEY WILL LAST 4 EVER IF U WANT BUILD A 454 U NEED A LITTLE $ i THINK I HAVE $1,400 IN MINE i HAVE TAKING IT TO TRUCK PULLS AND SHE PULLS ALRIGHT ITS LIKE IT NOT EVEN BACK THERE FOR A WHILE BUT LIKE I SAID i WOULD GO WITH THE 454 THEY ARE A GREAT MOTOR IF U BUILD EM
March 3, 2005I had a 454 with a 400 turbo trans god Iluved that truck. 72 chevy Crew Cab 1 ton. Used to run with the Cudas they thought that was cool.
March 29, 2005stroker all the way. a 454 is nothing but a worthless boat anchor.
March 29, 2005Run with the Cudas where, around the 25mph zone when you dropped off the kids for school?
I don't see a 1 ton "RUNNING" with Cudas anywhere, especially not a Cuda with a reasonably tuned Hemi.
April 14, 2005I have a buddy that bought a 3/4 ton with a LT 1 in it. That puppy would cruise at 100 mph like nobodies business?
April 14, 2005interesting...was that a stock LT1 or a transplanted one?
my cousin put an tune-port 350 out of a Trans-Am in his K5 with 42" TSLs on it, it won't do 100, but it'll smoke off all four of those big meats on the pavement. Of course he has a machined block, edelbrock racing heads, and some other nice goodies installed under that tune port intake.
February 10, 2006im not much of a chevy fan but ive been around a few and i'd say go with the 454. put a little money it er and she'll rock n roll. id sayh put a mild offroad cam for the monster off idle torque and a double pumper holley and shes redy to rip....
